Overview

As the most important city in colonial America, Philadelphia has a rich history. It was founded by William Penn, a Quaker who named the city after the ancient Greek word for brotherly love. Philadelphia is still known as the 'city of brotherly love'. Just outside Philadelphia you will find the center of the Amish community in the US, said to be European in descent, the Amish community live a traditional lifestyle without electricity, running water, telephone services or appliances.

Philadelphia is closely linked to America's struggle for independence. The declaration of Independence was signed in the city's state house, now the Independence Hall. Other significant events like the signing of the US Constitution and the creation of a national flag also took place in Philadelphia. Many buildings from this revolutionary period can be visited; most of them are clustered in the National Historic Park.

The city also boasts a number of fine museums, including one of the largest in the country - the Philadelphia Museum of Art, famous also for its ‘Rocky Steps’.

Itinerary

Make your way to the designated meeting point. Traveling through New Jersey, Pennsylvania on to the ‘City of Brotherly Love’, Philadelphia. Upon arrival in Philadelphia, embark on a panoramic tour of the city. You will see some of the iconic buildings like Liberty Bell, Congress Hall, Elfreth’s alley. While you on your panoramic tour to Philadelphia you will see Financial district, Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

Departing Philadelphia, see the famous Rocky Steps, the nickname given to the front steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. They appear in the film Rocky, and four of its sequels as well as in Rocky Balboa.

After lunch, embark on an authentic Amish buggy ride through the Amish farm country and learn about a life without the benefit of modern technology - no electricity, running water, telephone service or appliances.
