The large number of graves in the American Military Cemetery stands testimony to the killings in the Second World War and has a pond and chapel for silent reflections. The ground is still pockmarked with bomb craters in certain regions and ruins of German fortifications and bunkers are not hard to find.

A historic site in France, the D-Day landing beaches of Normandy testify to one of the fiercest battles in history. Visit Juno Beach, Omaha Beach, tour the Colleville-sur-Mer American Cemetery and visit Arromanches.
